Established for 35 years and with four international offices, The Bridgeman Art Library is the world's leading source of fine art, history and culture with some 260,000 images available on-line, plus 750,000 historical photographs, from 8000 locations. It represents museums, galleries and artists throughout the world by providing a central source of fine art for image users. BAL also develops educational resource packages, publishes art catalogues, offers copyright advice, licenses reproduction rights and provides sales services.

Lexara develops web based E-learning products supporting the needs of organisations in the publishing, education, corporate and cultural heritage sectors for personalised learning. The Lexara product family harnesses the power of social networking and user generated online content to provide a powerful, learner centric approach, which increases the effectiveness and lowers the cost of learning services for its clients.

The Knowledge Media Institute (KMi) was set up in 1995 in recognition of the need for The Open University (OU) to be at the forefront of research and development in a convergence of areas that impacted on The OU's very nature: Cognitive and Learning Sciences, Artificial Intelligence and Semantic Technologies, and Multimedia. This convergence of Knowledge Media focuses on the processes of generating, understanding and sharing knowledge in the networked age, as well as understanding how the use of different media shape these processes.
